This is a Ruger AC556.  The AC-556 has been specially designed for military and law enforcement use and though it resembles the other 5.56mm rifles in the Ruger range, it has certain significant differences.  It is fully selective and incorporates a 3 round burst counter.  The glass fiber handgaurd is heat resistant and ventilated.  The front sight is fully protected and carries a bayonet lug, while the muzzle has a flash suppresser.  The rifle is intentionally robust and capable of withstanding rough treatment without degrading the performance or endangering firer.  The AC-556 is in production and foreign sales have been made.
