NEW LAW EFFECTIVE JAN 1st 2003
As of January 1st 2003, all handguns must have a Maryland approved integral locking system and key to be compliant with Maryland Handgun Laws. Any new handgun purchased out of state, must comply with the following
1. It must be approved by the MD Handgun Roster Board.
2. It must have a fired shell casing, if manufactured after January 1st 2002.
3. If manufactured after December 31st 2003, must have a Maryland approved integral locking system and key.
For used handguns, if they after manufactured after January 1st 1985, they must be approved by the MD Handgun Roster Board and if manufactured after December 31st 2003, they must have a MD approved integral locking system and key.
